For the past few days im in Mumbai and it feels so good hearing all the things going around here. Finally i feel there is a room for us to groom in this environment. Accessing information is getting simpler these days, moreover the government started thinking about the masses and are actually taking steps for their improvement. Some recent initiatives will prove my stand.
Gtalk with the RTO officers
Imagine having the RTO on your Google Talk list. From August 30, internet users could chat with RTOs with the help of GTalk instant messaging service every fourth Friday of a month. They could key in queries, complaints and feedback and get instant answers from senior RTO officials. The hour-long session will be held between 12 noon and 1 pm.
A person need to do is log onto the RTO website—mahatranscom.in—for an interactive chat session with officers of RTOs from the city, they will answer questions and help solve people’s problems.’’ The scheme will eliminate the need for users to fix appointments with RTOs, thus saving them commuting time.
To filter genuine users, RTOs will maintain a log of users’ name, email ID and address.
Pay stamp duty at banks soon
After offering stamp duty vending services at post office branches, the Maharashtra state is now planning to start similar services at nationalised, cooperative and rural banks across the state.
A few years ago, in an attempt to boost the collection of stamp duty, the government had tied up with the department of posts, Maharashtra Circle. To make stamp duty collection easier, the government is planning to offer these services at most branches of nationalised, cooperative and rural banks.
Post offices currently offering this service in Mumbai include those at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Secretariat, Mantralaya, Andheri, Malad, Borivli (W), Chembur, Vashi, Thane (city) and Kalyan. The service is also offered at the main post offices in Akola, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Ratnagiri, Sangli and Kolhapur and Pune.
Face 5 years in jail for attacking public utility
The state government’s move to curb attacks on public property, institutions and officials has got a shot in the arm from the Centre. The UPA government has allowed Maharashtra to amend the IPC (Indian Penal Code) to enhance the jail term for such offences from the current two years to up to five years, besides a hefty fine.
Section 427 of the IPC provides for a jail term which may extend to two years and a fine for attack on public utility services. The state government has added a new section—427A—describing what constitutes a public utility services and enhancing the punishment of two years to five years, along with a fine.
These offences will attract stringent punishment in the state under IPC
Section 427 - Attacks on hospitals, dispensaries, media houses, places of worship, schools, colleges, museums and monuments.
Section 508 - Invoking God to force a person to carry out a particular act
Section 353 - Assault on public servants.
Section 357 - Wrong confinement of government officials.
One more interesting fact I need to share about the things happening in Dombivli, an outskirts of Mumbai.
A politician called Mr Ravindra Chavan an BJP leader is helping the young generations for their development and helping them to abide the traffic rules. He is providing a opportunity for the youths from this locality to increase their aptitude skills and compete in the open market. To do this he has arranged an competitive exams trainer and tied up with some of the schools for the space and conducting this workshop kind of thing for helping the large number of youths in cracking the government and banks exams which can lead to better future in the Government sector. Apart from this he has also made an arrangement for providing driving license for all those chunk who wants to follow driving rules. With this i guess the RTO department will be unhappy as many violate the rules driving the vehicles without Driving License, and this is one way for these corrupt officials to earn maoney in form of bribe by catching such people. The best part is the people in and around this locality can avail this facilities for FREE..!!!
